I'm Stephanie. Maris is my maiden name. In Latin, it means of the sea. My family is from the island of Andros, Greece; a place where the sea fed your family, shaped your culture, and carried your ancestors home. Today, I live on O‘ahu, in Hawai‘i; another beautiful island, half a world away.
I built my early career at the intersection of fine art and conservation, a surprising space that taught me that beauty and purpose don't have to be separate things. A pearl is the ocean’s response to intrusion: it takes something unwanted and makes it luminous. What if, similarly, a beautiful pearl pendant could remove marine litter from the ocean?
Maris Pearl was formed around that idea. Our studio has grown alongside my family, and my family has grown alongside the ocean: my son charges into the waves without hesitation; my daughter's feet dipped into the Pacific before they ever touched solid ground.
Maris Pearl exists for their generation, and because I believe that what we wear can carry meaning. That a pearl — layered slowly, shaped by water and pressure and time — is the perfect vessel for a bigger story.
My dream is for Maris Pearl to become a beloved global pearl house, and for the foundation we're building to protect saltwater ecosystems across our planet. Every ocean. Every coast. Every sea.
With love and saltwater,
Stephanie
